Patricia Ord��ez de Pablos is professor in the Department of Business Administration and Accountability, at the Faculty of Economics of The University of Oviedo (Spain). Her teaching and research interests focus on the areas of strategic management, knowledge management, intellectual capital, and China. She serves as Associate Editor of Behaviour and Information Technology journal. Additionally she is Executive Editor of the International Journal of Learning and Intellectual and the International Journal of Strategic Change Management. She is Editor of International Journal of Asian Business and Information Technologies (IGI-Global).

H�ctor Oscar Nigro received a systems engineer degree from UNICEN (Universidad Nacional del Centro de la Provincia de Buenos Aires), Tandil, Argentina; Magister degree in sociology and political sciences from FLACSO (Facultad Latinoamericana de Ciencias Sociales) and is a PHD candidate in computational and industrial mathematics applied at UNICEN. He is a full professor in the Department of Computer Sciences and Systems in the Exact Sciences FacultyUNICEN. He is the director MERAIS IV Project (UNICEN). Also, he realizes consulting activities related to data mining, data analysis, and knowledge management for the last 20 years. His research interests are in databases, data warehouses, data mining, knowledge management, and OLAP. He has published book chapters and articles presented at various professional conferences on his research activities. Prof. Nigro has co-edited the book Data Mining with Ontologies: Implementations, Findings, and Frameworks, published by IGI (2008).

Robert D. Tennyson is currently a professor of educational psychology and technology in the learning and cognition. In addition to his faculty position, he is the program coordinator for psychological foundations of education.His published works ranges from basic theoretical articles on human learning to applied books on instructional design and technology.He is editor of the scientific journal, Computers in Human Behavior, published by Elsevier Science and now in its 17th year, as well as serving on several editorial boards for professional journals.

His research and publications include topics such as cognitive learning and complex cognitive processes, intelligent systems, complex-dynamic simulations, testing and measurement, instructional design, and advanced learning technologies. At the present time, he is working with a German colleague on basic research in learning complex-advanced knowledge.

Great read!

Look no further for your next page turner! I couldn't put this book down. Susie Schnall's writing style is so readable - hilarious at times yet always thought provoking. The reader can't help but fall in love with Lucy Cooper, the adorable yet driven heroine of The Balance Project. You will be rooting for her from page 1 and counting down the days until Schnall's next book!

You will not want this to end...
By The Chic Lit Review
From the get-go, I was invested in the main character, Lucy Cooper. I found myself rooting for her, yelling at her and encouraging her throughout the novel. Schnall has a way of writing that keeps you laughing, guessing and wanting to turn the page. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and was sad when it ended. I can't wait for the next one...

A fun and thought-provoking read.

I received an advance copy of this book for an honest review.

Lucy Cooper is having a hard time balancing everything in her life at the moment. She has a job as an assistant to Katherine Whitney who is a COO and who has written a well received book about women being able to have-it-all. Since the book was so successful among women, Katherine's life, therefore Lucy's life, has been crazier than ever. Because of this success, both of the women are having a hard time finding the balance that Katherine declares is easy and possible. It isn't easy for Lucy at all. Her relationship with her longtime boyfriend Nick is suffering BIG time. She is not able to make her relationship a priority by missing important dates and events that involve Nick. Lucy has a chance to make it up to Nick, but unfortunately Katherine's life interferes again and so there is no Nick & Lucy anymore.

To add insult to injury, Katherine has not been very nice to Lucy and even sabotages something that is Lucy's dream. Lucy is, of course, mad and hurt by Katherine's actions that she retaliates by doing something so out of character of her. Lucy wishes she could take it all back, but unfortunately the damage is set in motion where it makes both of their lives start tumbling down. Lucy has to find strength to go after what she wants instead of waiting for her life to happen.

I have followed Susie's blog for The Balance Project. She interviews women about "having it all." This book incorporates this idea by having Katherine write a book talking about this same idea. I think it's a very interesting idea and as women we are always trying to juggle it all. I don't have kids, so I can't imagine having to throw that in the mix, but I feel it in my own life too. I recently got married, go to school, work, maintain our house, etc and some days it does feel like to much. Sometimes I think to myself "How does everyone else do it?" When we see women that seem to glide along like it's nothing. However, a lot of women (especially people like Katherine) have a lot of outside help. This could be nannies, assistants, or housekeepers. They really AREN'T doing it all. In this book the main character has to change her perception of "having it all" and figure out what is the most important aspects of her life that she wants to excel at. Like in everyday life, Lucy and Katherine are dropping the ball somewhere. That isn't necessarily a bad thing and it doesn't mean that they are failing either. That just means they need to decide what is most important to them and go with it. This book is very relatable.

Even though it is a work of fiction, The Balance Project is also what many women struggle with everyday. There were times that Lucy forgoes her own dreams and happiness to stay as Katherine's assistant. She feels loyal and sympathizes that there is a lot going on in Katherine's life. She doesn't want to increase that burden. This spoke to me big time. I once had a job that was AWFUL and felt the need to stay even though at times I was so miserable. I felt loyal to the company and knew my leaving would be hard on the people I enjoyed working with. Lucy goes through the same thing. Sometimes the people on the outside can't understand, especially when she passes up on a dream jobs. I really enjoyed this book. I loved the characters, the story and the message. It made me feel better about my own life and realize it's okay if I don't get everything done. There just are not enough hours in the day and I am okay with that. I think this book will be fun and very therapeutic for women. I know it was for me! As one of my favorite singers Kacey Musgraves says, "Having it all is a state of mind." :)

At the age of 17, Curtis Allen commenced college as a physics major on a science scholarship. Soon after, fate intervened via a powerful personal query, launching him on an odyssey of self-discovery and illumination that would take the next twenty years to complete. He searched with passion for the missing pieces to the ultimate cosmic puzzle. During physics lectures, the deep ramifications of Dr. von Heisenberg’s Principle of Uncertainty brought to light the concept that the eternal verities of life would remain forever beyond our reach. Dr. von Heisenberg defined a barrier beyond which it is stated: “You shall not pass.” In a flash of cognitive awareness, Mr. Allen saw the illusive state of absolute certainty—by definition—would never be achieved by humanity, if we continued to follow only the means of our present technology and its trajectory. While working on personal experiments toward the resolution of these thorny conundrums, Curtis Allen completed his degree and graduated cum laude from the University of the State of New York. Since then, he has held such positions as CEO for Neuroscience Industries, Inc.; CEO for Business Software Products Co. (a developer of early Windows-type technology) and President of the Strategic Learning Institute, Inc. Mr. Allen hosted the San Francisco based tele-vision show In the Mind's I, where he interviewed notables in physics, neuroscience and philosophy such as author-physicist Dr. Fred Alan Wolf, featured in the film "What the Bleep do We Know? ". He was also the co-originator of Robot Wars (precursor to the television show, BattleBots). Mr. Allen has lectured for national organizations including MENSA, PC Clubs of America and the U. S. Department of Agriculture. He was awarded The John Templeton Foundation grant for Creative Research in Neurobiology for the development of a product utilizing complex electromagnetic waveforms for technologically assisted consciousness exploration. He co-founded an independent publishing company whose books were sold to Time Warner Publications, HarperCollins, Allen & Unwin and Macmillan. Five of the books have since been translated and published in seventeen different languages. Curtis Allen has had the good fortune to study at length with world-renowned leaders in the fields of science, spirituality, yoga and philosophy. Grounbreaking new paradigm for science and religion

"This book, Quantum Christ, is a herald of the new paradigm, defining the space where Physics and Spirit meet. With humor and practical examples, he makes the difficult (and sometimes arcane) subjects science and religion deal with, accessible to everyone. This book is sure to stir controversy among the pundits of both disciplines and give thinking people solid evidence that there is much, much more to this Universe than immediately meets the surface eye. He has surpassed the Brights, and ushered in the era of the Brilliants.
Here's a little sample of his rhetoric:

It is totally irrelevant whether one returns to the original Hebrew, Greek, Aramaic, German, Latin, Sanskrit, etc.; whatever those words mean to anyone, at any given time, is only made sense of in the light of someone doing a bang-up job of interpretation. As the German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche stated the case, "There are no facts, only interpretations." There are no fundamentalists or biblical literalists who live by every word in the scriptures; regardless of what they think or claim. There only exist those who have interpreted and extrapolated a doctrine of what they think certain, specific collections of words and phrases (that they have selected and appropriated from the Bible, Koran, Sutras or Vedas) mean or imply...

Now on the subject of black holes, many will defer to physicists such as Stephen Hawking under the assumption that he and his colleagues, who have spent the greater part of their lifetime in the contemplation, experimentation and peer-reviewed exposition about such matters, are probably closer to the correct and complete picture than one who has been working, say, in the stock market or as a rheumatoid arthritis surgeon. Does anyone in the theological world acknowledge this except for perhaps those few who, in their humble realization of the truth contained in this statement, have often left the church in order to more closely and deeply seek God?

Engaging Brilliance

Allen takes the reader on delightful tour through everything from scientific materialism and quantum physics, to examinations of the nature of truth, the nature of knowing, the nature of God and oneself. He has an enthusiasm for revealing to the reader the connections between wildly diverse views and how to go beyond them all. His thorough knowledge of these areas and his rare ability to communicate a unifying vision and understanding carries one through what might have otherwise been abstruse material, so that you can discover the profound gems that Allen sprinkles all along the way. This is an extraordinary feat! This is an excellent, insightful and intelligent book. You'll want to ponder again and again what Allen so expertly makes accessible to everyone. I highly recommend it!

This is a very interesting book which gives solid reasons why what we know about quantum mechanics and the teachings of Christ can be both understood without conflicts. The author also says that this is to be the first book that he will write on this topic.

Essential for an instructor

This pair of CD-ROMs is a bit pricey for a student, who will probably have something similar included with his textbook. However, the optional labels would be very helpful for self-testing or group study. These CD-ROMs are worth every penny to an instructor because the images can be downloaded and used to make Power Points that one can customize for one's own course. Image quality is generally excellent. Most of the images can stand up to 4x magnification of parts of the image when one wants to discuss small details.

I was very pleased with the information made available through out most of the slides, however, in some slides there could have been more labeling and more information about the tissue specimen.
