About the Author
Nor Asiah Tajul Urus has over 29 years experience in Nestle Products Sdn. Bhd. as a Consumer Food Specialist. She has created more than 2000 recipes using Maggi and Nestle products for magazines, pamphlets, newspapers, websites and brochures, She has also conducted more than 500 cooking demonstrations throughout Malaysia and Singapore. Among the cooking demonstrations conducted were with organizations such as Puspanita, TALENT, Tenaganita and for workshops with Jelita, Wanita, Saji and Her World. She has been involved in shows with Chef Wan during the tour of Nestle Happy Home Project. Among other achievements, she has developed more than 50 new products of Maggi. She was a judge to the Maggi program Star Search, commercial for Happy Fun Raya programmes, Nestle Cornflakes, Uli-uli Day Nestum and Yen & Maggi Can Cook on RTM 2. Recently, she has introduced recipes together with a company focused on Nutrition, Health and Wellness.

interesting, but...

This book has a lot of excellent "how to" info on making Sarawak layer cakes. This is a lost art in the cake world, all but forgotten in the United States. I'm giving this review three stars for two reasons: first, there are specialty baking equipment essential to this form of detailing with NO information on where to purchase these items. Things like L-shaped cutters, baking trays with corrugated ridges, zigzag molds, etc. An internet search has turned up nothing as of yet either. The second reason for a three star review is the baking ingredients used. What on Earth is Hong Kong flour and where can we get it? Ovalette? Never heard of it. There is no adaptation given -- for example she could have said "the batter will be thick" - thus telling us a pound cake batter would be better for this recipe. There's nothing like that. So while I do enjoy the book, it's going to be interesting trying to improvise the items used to make a true Sarawak layer cake.
