Not a bad Rails book

I found this book to be a pretty good overview of the Rails framework. It covers the basics, and is clearly written. I didn't find it to be a "bible" of RoR, in that my expectations of such a book would be a very in depth collection of information. This is why I rate it a 4/5.

That being said, it's a good book, and worth owning if you are new to RoR.

Good, but has melody in the piano part

The description on Amazon does a poor job on informing you what kind of accompaniment you are receiving in this book. This book has the melody in the piano part. If you don't want the melody in the piano part, look for the book that says only "Vocal Selections" on top instead of "Piano / Vocal Selections". That book seems to be available on Amazon but isn't fulfilled by Amazon.

I ended up buying the other book as well after finding it and found that, although there are some very slightly minor differences between the piano parts, they were pretty much the same other than the melody being in there. It also doesn't seem to be dumbed down that much like many other piano books out there.

I would definitely recommend this book. Just make sure you know what you want in the accompaniment before purchasing this.

This book is filled with the authors own childhood memories of growing up in Vienna/AUSTRIA during WWII
It is the first of two books with this topic.(Maikaefer flieg and Zwei Wochen im Mai) Noestlinger gives an honest, often funny, and moving account of one girl growing up in times of war.

This is an amazing coming of age book about a girl growing up in occupied Germany at the end of WW2. Incredibly moving, this book is a great read for anyone who is-or has ever been-a kid.

This book is so stupid! It keeps changing from one subject to another. NONE of the book makes sence. Probley because its told from a russian point of view. The book is set at the end of world war II, which is when all the russians stared to live in the german people's home. All the girl does in the book is wine about the russians. Do not read this book!

About the Author

Just one more five star review for any doubters out there!

It seems almost pointless to add yet another five star review to the many that are already posted. And I am not sure that I can really add much to what has already been said. But here I am -- writing 'yet another five star review' because I absolutely LOVED this book! I bought the trilogy ["Fairytale Girl", "Martha's Vineyard" and "A Fine Romance" ] together as I didn't discover them until they had all been published. These books are a huge departure from Susan Branch's celebrated cookbooks and frankly I wasn't expecting to love them as much as I did. But twenty pages into the first one I was smitten; I found them very hard to put down and in fact stayed up way too late reading, even when I came to the end of one. (I 'needed' to know what happened next!)

This second volume is absolute magic. I have always loved New England even though I have only ever been there once, on a magical trip to Maine one summer with a daughter and two of my granddaughters. But I have always wanted to experience it for myself in person and this book let me do that as closely as I possibly could without actually being there. Susan manages to capture so very much of the ambiance of her surroundings while at the same time sharing her personal story in ways that are poignantly endearing. I felt like her best friend as I read through the pages, something that many authors have attempted to evoke in their writing but have failed to do. Interspersed throughout are her utterly charming water color pictures which really are worth a thousand words!

If you are an armchair traveler, an autobiography lover, an admirer of artistic talent or even just a curious reader, I suspect that this book is one you might really enjoy. I hated for it to end; in fact I plan on reading it again in the very near future. It inspired me, it encouraged me. it took me out of my own little life's frame of reference and most of all it made me love New England even more than I already did. I hope that it will do the same for you should you decide to read it for yourself..

With honesty, courage, and beauty Susan Branch has written another wonderful book called Martha's Vineyard, Isle of Dreams. This is one woman's journey of independence, self discovery, and facing of fears. It is a story of perseverance, finding your dreams, and enjoying the little things in life that make it beautiful. All of Susan Branch's books make life more beautiful and her latest is no exception. It's full of wonderfully detailed watercolors and photographs that, as a reader, you wish you could open a door and walk inside. The writing is fantastic, just imagine having a conversation with your best friend because that's what Susan's writing is like: comfortable, witty, honest, an eye for the little details and exchanging of recipes. This book belongs with other beloved classics and kindred spirits of the literary world like Anne of Green Gables, Little Women, and Bridget Jones's Diary to name a few. This book will be a heartfelt inspiration to a person of any age because everyone must go on a journey to find their true self at some point in life. This book is part of a trilogy, the other two are The Fairy Tale Girl and A Fine Romance:Falling in Love with the English Countryside, both of which are also amazing books and highly recommended. Susan Branch is an absolute treasure

I discovered Susan Branch at my local library. It was happenstance I'd only breezed by the shelf on the way to pick up my young studious child. I immediately fell under her spell and needed to own all of her books to treasure always. I've enjoyed revisiting these books each fall. They awaken my sleeping artist, they remind me of the humble treasures we at times take for granted like our homemaking skills the smell of fresh baked goods and what women can achieve when we follow our hearts desire. I'm so pleased with the ownership of my beautiful copy of Martha's Vineyard and have a sneaking suspicion a lovely husband of mine ordered me a fresh copy of Fine Romance and the 2017 calendar to place under the Christmas Tree. Hunter's Way with different characters

Many people have given this book a bad review because they feel that it's basically Hunter's Way but with two new characters, however aren't most of her novels like this? Like one reviewer basically stated, two women meet (usually one out and the other either in the closet or questions their sexuality once meeting the other woman). Both are unable to be together for one reason or another but in the end things work out in their favor. The only difference are the events leading up to the ending. Either way Gerri Hill is one of my favorite authors even though everyone knows how her novels will end (at least when it comes to the love story.

That being said, this novel wasnt as good as Hunter's Way but was still a good read. The ending, that some people are complaining about, is a bit upsetting however Gerri Hill has posted something on her website in response to some people's questions. [...]

more of the same & a boring mystery

the romance is this book is according to a pattern which readers of gerri hill have by now come to be familiar with. they start out as friends, cannot help but fall in love, try to deny it first but cannot help the gravity of their feelings. been there, read that. as if in compensation, the love scenes are quite hot.
what really killed me was the mystery, however. it was just boring, boring, boring. and to end the book with a cliff-hanger, that seemed to be quite lazy.

Last in the series and I was disappointed!!

This one was all about getting to know a new set of partners and in the beginning, seemed VERY similar to how Tori and Sam got together. In some ways, even though the characters backgrounds were slightly different, there were still some similarities. I did expect much Tori and Sam interaction here, so I was not disappointed by the lack of it. The case was kind of weird but interesting enough. My biggest issue? The ending!! Oh my god! I won't spoil it, but when you read it, you'll know what I mean. 3 stars exactly on this one folks.

Beautifully Photographed Reference

This book did not disapoint. The uniforms are often full page, clear, and are wonderfully photographed. A big and somewhat chilling surprise was one of Hitlers 1935 NSDAP party shirts, complete with belt, strap, and medals; found by US soldiers in his Munich apartment. My only complaint was that there were no uniforms complete with matching pants and boots. Having one of Hitlers garments included also begged the question if there are other uniforms of top officials still in existence such as Goering, Himmler, or other Reich or Field Marshalls. The book gives little reference or hint of the extent of such historical items existing either in private hands or museums.

Not a great reference source.

Based on the write-up for this book, I assumed that it would have photographs of various WW2-era uniforms that would help a collector know what to look for when it came to authentic/original items. Well if you can afford to buy or could actually find uniforms that belonged to Erwin Rommel or some Navy Admiral or a Knight's Cross winner, this is the book for you. If you collect uniforms for historical purposes for the average foot soldier of any of the services, this isn't the book for you. There were numerous photos of uniforms for Generals, high-ranking officers, and some ultra rare SS uniforms. However, there were very, very, few photographs of common uniforms that would belong to anyone below an officer rank. The Navy section had 7 different reefer jackets pictured, but not a single enlisted uniform was pictured. How many reefer jackets do you need to see? There were no standard enlisted army wool tunics pictured. This book basically is a visual display of some of the very best pieces from some great collections. However, it's use as a reference source for collecting purposes is very limited. I was very disappointed....

Great book, but too many photos of one item

First of all, this book is really impressive. Its a massive
volume and I enjoyed reading (or looking) very much. The photos
are very clear and show a lot of close ups. However, I felt that,
in such a large book, some more uniforms should have been
described. For example there is a large section on just one Army
officers set, too large for my taste. Apart from that, great book
